Biography

As you may have guessed, I am Keith D. McSwain and I was born and bred right here in the windy city of Chicago on January 31, 1964.
 

I first began writing and illustrating at the age of seven. I am number 11 out of 16 children, (that’s merely because my parents had no cable television back then).

As a child, I have done brief performances with Oscar Brown Jr. and have even recited some of my poetry on W.V.O.N and Jaho Ministries. I am now the host of GENESIS, AN ANTHOLOGY OF POETIC EXPRESSION. On W. C. F. J. Access Radio Chicago on Sundays at 1:00 p.m.

Acknowledging the teachings of Jesus Christ and singing Gospel music are my passions. My endeavor is to become doctor of medicine as well as an accomplished author. The study of linguistics has always intrigued me; I am bi-lingual in Spanish and presently increasing my knowledge of Sign, Polish and Chinese.

I like to think of myself as a very unconventional writer. Whereas Stephen king is known for terror and Dr. Seuss for children, I’d like to keep my readers guessing.

As they say: “Variety is a spice of life,” therefore if I write a children’s book one week, I will be writing a suspense novel the next. To me, the idea of being a writer is simply a mild bid for immortality.

It’s humbling to think that maybe a hundred years from now; that is if the earth lasts that long, that a child could be reading one of my books, even as I have read some of the works of Edgar Allen Poe or Richard Wright just to name a few. Speaking of children; here are my two “Little Devils” Keith Jr. and Mallory.

It is with humble acquiescence, sorrow and joy that this section is dedicated to the memories of my loved ones whom God in his wisdom has called to be with him.
